about us
Irongate was a pine forest and when the turpentine industry collapsed, there wasn’t really a whole lot one could do with the Irongate land; it was just too poor to farm. As the story goes, Alvin Rocker had a knack to see potential, and he got out there with a big stick and just drew lots off in the sand. From there, the surveyors and everyone else would come in behind him and come up with the engineering, roads, etc. Franklin would manage the legal and business side of these endeavors and away we go! What started out as some scratches in the sand has become an impressive 300-plus lots and nearly that many homes along with 10 miles of roads. There are vacant lots for sale throughout Irongate and the final phase is along Plantation Trail and Brentwood Circle where construction of new homes continues at a robust pace.
